Meet Coach Julie

Prior to becoming a National Board Certified and Functional Medicine Certified Health Coach, my formal education was in Food Science and Nutrition. I spent four decades as a product development leader in the food industry, where I led creative teams and worked with clients around the world to bring their new food ideas to life.

While I loved being immersed in the food world, the pace was grueling, and quite frankly, not sustainable. After beginning my studies at the Functional Medicine Coaching Academy, I made a conscious decision to create more time in my life to take care of myself and my own health needs.

At about the same time, a family member was struggling with cognitive decline, and I was introduced to the Bredesen Protocol at Dr. Bredesen’s first patient immersion in 2017. During that long weekend, I learned how a Functional Medicine approach can be used to improve cognition and overall health. It was the first time I had heard the message that cognitive decline and Alzheimer’s dementia may be prevented or reversed in the early stages. Genes are important, but how we live our lives can tip the balance toward healthy brains and bodies. What a message of hope!

Lifestyle factors are powerful determinants of our health. As I embarked on optimizing my own wellness, I tackled health challenges that included gut health issues like SIBO and mycotoxin illness from mold exposure.  With a history of Alzheimer’s Disease on both sides of my family, I am passionate about doing all I can to optimize the health of my brain and body. It is my privilege to help others do the same.

Have you seen your parents, siblings or other relatives struggle with chronic illnesses?

Are you willing to make changes in your life to travel a different, more vibrant path?

Is your goal to live a healthier life than the generation before you?

As a health coach, I love working with people like you who are striving to live their best lives.

Like you, my clients want to choose a different outcome by avoiding or reversing chronic conditions, such as type 2 diabetes and cognitive decline. They are interested and motivated to improve their health and want to make changes in their lives that will decrease their own risk. But many people do not know where to start.

As a coach, I don’t provide the answers. I facilitate the process to help each client find the wisdom and answers that already lie within them. I love to bring humor into the process and make sure clients are having fun as they make progress on their health journey. I work with my clients to set goals and make positive changes in their habits related to food, movement, relaxation, sleep and social relationships. And we celebrate all their successes along the way!

I help clients to see themselves as scientists in charge of their own health — to view lifestyle changes as small experiments they can perform on themselves. Trying to change a habit can seem overwhelming if it feels like it has to be permanent. Approaching health as an experiment, however, gives my clients permission to try out a new behavior and track the results. Once my clients feel the benefits of healthier habits, it helps them make the changes permanent.
